- How to install ? o First of all: $ ./configure or - Specify path to Xlib $ ./configure --x-dir=/path/to/Xlib - Enable spell checking support $ ./configure --spell-check - Enable gtk2 support $ ./configure --with-gtk2 - All above options can be combine together $ ./configure --spell-check --with-gtk2 - Display help of configure script $ ./configure --help o Normal: Very easy $ make $ make install * Debug mode: $ make debug $ make install * Follow the instructions of installation script, it will guide you through, don't worry, it's very simple ;). a. Install as "root": Install script will: - copy xvnkb => /usr/local/bin - copy xvnkb.so => /usr/local/lib - copy scripts/xvnkb.sys.sh => /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/xvnkb.sh (*) (*) xvnkb.sh will be called automatically when X start, it will set LD_PRELOAD=/usr/local/lib/xvnkb.so, and also set LANG=UTF-8 if you selected it b. Install as normal user: Install script will ask if you want to install for every one => a. If not (just for you): - copy xvnkb => $HOME/bin - copy xvnkb.so => $HOME/lib - copy scripts/xvnkb.user.sh => $HOME/.xvnkb.preload - backup $HOME/.xinitrc => $HOME/.xvnkb.xrcdefaults (if exists) - copy scripts/xvnkb.xinitrc.sh => $HOME/.xinitrc (*) (*) $HOME/.xinitrc will: - call $HOME/.xvnkb.preload to set LD_PRELOAD=$HOME/lib/xvnkb.so (also set LANG=UTF-8 if you selected it) - if $HOME/.xvnkb.xrcdefaults exists, call it to load all your X settings. - if $HOME/.xvnkb.xrcdefaults does not exists, .xinitrc will call /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc to load the default system settings o Core: if you want only the core (xvnkb.so) and load it by yourself - You are an advanced user 8-) $ make core then use contrib/profile to load it $ source contrib/profile $ * Debug mode: $ make core_debug o Comment: - For more information please see README also
